Your Ideal Hiking Spot!
Mount Srd is a natural site and the best hiking spot in Croatia. It offers breathtaking views of Dubrovnik city and its surroundings. The peak height of the mountain is 422 meters which offer fantastic aerial views while hiking. Accessing the mountain is pretty easy. One can take a car and drive via the village of Bosanka. The road to the summit is extremely narrow and steep. However, it has stunning views through snaking corners with high rises and steep grades. The other fun way is by taking a cable cart to the top of the mountain.
The main attraction at Mount Srd is the spectacular view. Seeing the city of Dubrovnik, the Adriatic Sea with its crystal clear waters and its numerous islands from above is definitely worth. Apart from the magical view, another tourist destination at Mount Srd is the Croatia Homeland War Museum. The famous fort imperial was built in 1812 during the Napoleonic wars. The walls of the fortress were however severely damaged during the 1991-1995 civil wars. History buffs would enjoy seeing the damages that are still visible up to date.
Mount Srd also hosts a bar and a restaurant where one can grab a plate of food or beer. The restaurant offers a gorgeous panoramic view as you enjoy your fold or cold drink.
Once you have taken enough of the magical view, it's time to hike down Mount Srd. There is a hiking trail running down the hill which offers some of the best views. The views from the lower spots as you hike down the trail are also great.
